From the Principal
Dear Families,
The grade 5 and 6 children had a wonderful time last week at Camp Rumbug. We had fantastic weather which meant that the children were able to enjoy all of their activities without being weather affected. I know that the staff members who attended camp certainly came home very tired and weary after three days away and walking up and down all of the hills at the camp however chatting to a few of the children this morning, they said they weren’t tired at all when they got home on Friday! The camp was certainly a good opportunity to exercise our school wide expectations of being Respectful, Resilient and Responsible. I’d also like to thank our staff members Mr Clarke, Miss Smith and Miss Jess for attending camp and taking time out of their personal lives to support this wonderful experience for our kids.
We also had a beautiful Remembrance Day service here at school last week. Although I was on camp and wasn’t able to attend, it was lovely to see the photos of our school with our beautiful rose bushes in bloom and the artwork prepared by Mrs Ruiter to make the backdrop look special. Many thanks also to Mrs Savige for her work in preparing the service, ensuring that our children understand and respect this important date.
With only 4 weeks of school to go now until the end of the year, there are many things happening on the school calendar. We have our whole school fun day coming up, the school concert, the Bethlehem Bazaar and the end of year mass and nativity play also. We also have swimming starting next week – so lots happening. I am trying my best to communicate everything to our families as best that I can.
There is also important transition dates coming up for our Year 6 children. Hopefully their 2023 schools are communicating everything with you about when these dates are happening.
On Thursday, we have the Tour de Cure visiting our school. This is something the school has supported in the past and we are very happy to be offering the riders a place to stop and rest riding for such a great cause – many of us have been affected by cancer in our families so Lumen Christi are proud to continue our support.
Have a great week ahead everyone,
Sally
