Dear Families,
We have some busy weeks ahead of us in our school calendar.
This month in October, it is Mission Month. As always, as a Catholic school
community, we try to shine a light of Social Justice and how we can be contributing
to the loves of others in a positive way.
This Thursday, we will be wearing a “touch of red” and we ask students to bring a
gold coin donation which we will donate to a community in need. Red is the colour of
Mission and so we can wear something – a ribbon, socks, a t-shirt – something red
to acknowledge our efforts to helping others. As a Catholic school community, we are
always linked with the Mission of Jesus and how we can carry out this Mission in our
daily lives. Thank you for supporting this in our school.
Swimming starts next Monday; a letter went home last week with the timetable and
any other information families need. From a practical level, it’s always helpful to send
a plastic bag for wet clothes. And maybe a bit of extra food in lunch boxes as for
some reason swimming tends to make people hungrier.
We are also having a Grandparents’ Morning on Thursday 30 th October in Week 4.
Grandparents will be welcome to visit classrooms and play games and complete
activities in classrooms from 8:35 – 9:30 and then are welcome to stay for a lovely
morning tea in the Eco-Centre at 9:30. We warmly welcome all Grandparents who
are able to attend on the day.
A reminder that Friday 31 st October and Monday 3 rd November are school closure
days with the Melbourne Cup holiday falling on Tuesday 4 th November.
Traditionally in the church, October is the month of Mary and The Rosary. I have
included a prayer to highlight the special role Mary plays in the Catholic Tradition.
Prayer for the Month of MaryLoving God,
In this beautiful month of October,
we remember Mary, our Mother,
who always said “yes” to You with faith and love.
We thank You for giving her to us as a model of kindness, courage, and trust.
During this month of the Rosary,
help us to pray with Mary and to think about the special moments in the life of Jesus.
May the Rosary remind us that You are always close,
guiding us in times of joy and in times of challenge.
Bless our school community, Lord.
May we follow Mary’s example by showing care for others,
listening to Your Word, and saying “yes” to Your call in our lives.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally

Sacrament of Reconciliation – Grade 3 students
Sacrament of Reconciliation – Grade 3 students
Grade 3 parents - A note was sent home last week in relation to the upcoming Sacrament of First Reconciliation which is in November. This Sacrament is offered for Baptised Grade 3 students and is the Sacrament that follows after Baptism in the Catholic Church. We sent a letter home very early this year asking parents if their child/children will be participating in this sacrament but because this was so early in the year another note went home last week just to confirm our students for this sacrament. Reconciliation is the second sacrament in the Catholic church following Baptism and must be completed prior to a child making their First Eucharist.
If you wish for your child to participate in this sacrament please complete the form that was sent home and return it to the office this week.
Dates for the Sacrament are:
Commitment masses:
25thor 26th October 2025 - Students will need to present a prayer letter
8thor 9th November 2025 - Students will be presented with a special prayer book
15thor 16th November 2025 - Last Commitment Mass where students will be presented with a pin for their stole.
Sacrament of Reconciliation – Wednesday 19th November at Sacred Heart, Morwell at 5:30pm
We will also have a Grade 3 Games Night on Wednesday 29th October for ALL Grade 3 students (you do not have to be making the sacrament to attend this). It was lots of fun last year and students really enjoyed it – we encourage all Grade 3 students to come along for lots of fun together, a yummy pizza dinner and to support our students making their Sacrament.
OVERDUE PLASE RETURN ALL CADBURY FUNDRAISING MONEY
We are getting a new fence on the Authterlonie crescent side of the school, We are giving away the old fence panels if anyone would like them please contact the office.
