From the Principal

Dear Families,

Here we are at the end of another term. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank parents, families and our children for their continued support throughout Term 3. Attending our school events, supporting your child with their learning and keeping them home when they have been unwell have been greatly appreciated by all of us here at school. I am pleased to say, that we have managed to stay with very low covid numbers and influenza numbers this term. So, a huge thank you for taking precaution to ensure we minimise the impact of these viruses in our school community.

Please be sure to make a note of the school closure dates for Term 4. These are:

Monday 3rd October

Monday 24th October

Monday 31st October

Monday 14th November

It was sad news last week to see the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. I know and respect there will be many Republicans in our school community, however, I believe she can still be admired for her dutiful service and leadership no matter which side of the fence we sit on. Pope Francis has joined many other world leaders in acknowledging and marking her passing. He said…

“Deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, I offer heartfelt condolences to Your Majesty, the Members of the Royal Family, the People of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. I willingly join all who mourn her loss in praying for the late Queen’s eternal rest, and in paying tribute to her life of unstinting service to the good of the Nation and the Commonwealth, her example of devotion to duty, her steadfast witness of faith in Jesus Christ and her firm hope in his promises.”

I do hope that all of our children have a fun and restful holiday. I hope that those families who are travelling during the holidays travel safely and those that are staying home and enjoying a quieter time enjoy a bit of a break – I know as a mother, I enjoy a break from making school lunches and washing uniforms if nothing else!

We are heading into a very busy Term 4 with school camps, school closures, teacher training, swimming, transition for new students and those leaving for Year 7, Bethlehem Bazaar, Nativity play and a school concert!

I have been studying towards a Masters Degree in Leadership and will be spending the break finishing my final project. Mrs Savige and Mr Mahoney are also working towards the end of their Masters Degree in Evidence Based Teaching so we wish them well with their work also.

I have a Collingwood supporter who lives in my house, so there are fingers and toes crossed for a win this weekend. Good luck to all of our families who have a team in the finals.

Finally, I want to acknowledge the hard work of our teachers and staff here at our school. In a small school, teachers and staff have to take on so many small jobs to make a school run smoothly on top of their normal workload. We have a wonderful team here at Lumen Christi.

Thanks again for another great term.

Sally
