From the Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone had a restful break over the holidays. I have been on yard duty today speaking with many of the children who enjoyed lots of different activities with families and friends, exactly as it should be.

I spent the two weeks, as I know many of the teachers and staff here did, being very quiet at home. Term 2 was a busy term. Although sometimes it is nice to have fun and exciting holidays, it is also okay to sometimes just “be”. I did manage to meet up with a few friends for coffees and lunches, which was a lovely way to spend the time.

We have started out the term with an Engineering workshop today, run by students from the University of Melbourne. We have a number of things coming up in the term. There will be Parent Teacher Interviews in week 3, interview slots are not available yet, but they will be on PAM early next week.

We also have the Father’s Day Stall, Footy Day and we will begin preparing out children who will be making their First Holy Communion.

Speaking of the footy, it was good to see the Bombers have a win over the weekend. I hope what ever team you support in your family had a successful round too.

We had some very sad news in our school community. Unfortunately, one of our school parents, Dave Breheny, passed away suddenly last week. Dave was father to Jack in grade 6 and husband to Jen, who is a long serving member of our P&F and school community. Dave was also brother to Stephen, a member of our School Advisory Committee, brother-in-law to Janelle who works in our office and uncle to Blake, Billy and Tom who attend our school.

Thank you to members of our school community who have reached out during this difficult time, offering their condolences and support. I know this has been greatly appreciated by Dave's family.

Our school staff and community extend our deepest sympathies to Dave’s family and keep them in our prayers, I know that Father James offered Sunday’s mass for Dave also.

A Prayer

Dear God,

We place our prayers for our our friend, Dave into your hands. Pour out your Holy Spirit’s comfort upon Dave’s family and friends and all who grieve his passing, and fill them with Christ’s peace, to sustain them through these difficult days. Strengthen the hope you have planted in our hearts, that we might be light for one another and for all who struggle along this most difficult of life’s journeys.

Amen

Warmest wishes for the week ahead,

Sally
