From the Principal
Dear Families,
Well, we definitely had a very interesting week at Lumen Christi last week. The children may have come home reporting that many of the classmates were absent from school. I am pleased to report that we are seeing lots of children return to school this week after recovering from either Covid or the other flu/flu like bug that has been circulating around.
That said, the government announced last week that it is no longer recommended to do the RATs twice a week. We will however continue to send the boxes of RATs home for families that would like them. The message about unwell children will stay the same – if children are unwell with symptoms, even if they are testing negative on a RAT, they must stay home until symptoms resolve. Please keep children home from school with sore throats, runny noses or little coughs – even if it’s not Covid, we are risking spreading other nasty bugs around.
Thank you to those families who completed the Insight SRC school surveys, this is much appreciated and will be helpful information for us moving forward.
Remember that school photos are coming up on Thursday 9th June. Please see Janelle or Maree in the office if you cannot find your envelope.
We had a fantastic footy clinic last week which all children participated in. We also had our first Confirmation workshop, which Mrs Savige ran and did a brilliant job in her new role as our Acting Religious Education Leader. Our senior children participated in a soccer tournament with the local schools. Our boys won their competition and go through to the next level and our girls came very close, but the honours went to Yinnar this year. Well done to everyone who participated and to the staff and parents who helped on the day.
The Parents and Friends group met last week and discussed up and coming fundraising events. We thank them for their substantial contribution to having our school videos made to promote our school and for all of the events they ran in terms one and two. They have some fantastic things on the horizon and are always looking for other parents who can help. Please contact me if this is something you think you can help with.
Over the weekend, Australia voted for a change of Government. I’d like to offer a small prayer for our country’s leaders, especially our new Prime Minister and all of the ministers who are taking on a new role.
God, thank You for the men and women who serve our country in leadership roles. Please provide our leaders with reminders each day of why they decided to dedicate their lives to public service, and use that commitment to encourage them. Amen.
Have a great week everyone,
Sally
