From the Principal

Dear Families,

We have an exciting week ahead here at Lumen Christi. We look forward to welcoming parents back to attend Parent Teacher Interviews tomorrow and Thursday afternoon. Please make an appointment if you haven’t done so already, it’s not too late! The Parent Teacher Interviews are a very important part of our assessment and reporting schedule and parent/school partnerships help for successful learning for our kids.

We have our athletics day on Friday. Mr Watson has been busy organising everything and I am excited to be taking part in my first athletics day here at our school. Our parents and friends have organised the Lion’s Club to be onsite running a sausage sizzle. Thanks to this wonderful group of parents for organising this. Our athletics day is a fantastic opportunity for our children to practice the three Rs – Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. It’s a great day to be competitive, but it’s also a great day to encourage everyone to take part and contribute to their team. We welcome parents along to this event, it is an outdoor event so everyone is welcome but we do ask that parents, grandparents and friends of our children still comply with social distancing to keep covid safe.

I also met last week with a media company about promoting our wonderful school. We will be inviting them to our school on Tuesday the 29th March to film the school day and all the activities that happen here. I will be sending home a notice about this, to ensure that we have permission for students to be in the promotion. The notice will ask for parents to return a slip if they do not consent to their child being a part of the filming. But it will be an exciting day for us all and we will look forward to sharing it with our community and beyond as we have a beautiful school that everyone can be very proud of.

Just a little reminder to parents who are driving in the vicinity of the school at drop off and pick up time to ensure the speed limit is adhered to at all times. I did have a parent make note of some unsafe driving near the school – I am a busy parent too and am often rushing to get my kids to school on time or to their activities after school, however I would hate for our school community to have to cope with a hurt child because someone was driving too fast. Please keep an eye out for kids crossing the roads during peak times.

We had our first Reconciliation workshop last week on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Colaciello did a wonderful job working with the children and their parents. We pray for our children preparing for Reconciliation as they grow in their relationship with God on their Faith journey.

Lastly, Assemblies are back! Parents who wish to attend will need to show proof of vaccination, wear a mask and adhere to social distancing rules. We are excited to have parents back to enjoy our assembly celebrations in a covid safe way. There is no assembly this week due to Athletics Day, but we look forward to seeing parents on the 25th.

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Warm regards

Sally
