Oz Harvest
Oz Harvest - Stir Fry
In Week 1 of Term 3, Grade 5/6 were back in the kitchen cooking up a delicious Honey Soy Noodle Stir Fry.
As a class we discussed the importance of reducing food waste and looked at ways in which we could use leftover vegetables to make a nutritious meal.
It was amazing to see 5/6 very enthusiastic about cooking and working collaboratively together to take it in turns to make the delicious meal.
As we are coming to a close in the cooking kitchen, with only 1 more cooking season to go, Grade 5/6 would like to thank Heather, Mrs Campbell, Barb (Maizie’s nan) and Lucy (Mrs Savige’s Mum) for coming each week to help us cook and clean. Without our weekly helpers, this would not be possible.
Here is the recipe to try at home
Ingredients:
250grams of Hokkien noodles (soaked in hot water for 2 minutes)
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 egg, lightly beaten
½ red capsicum, sliced
½ zucchini, sliced
½ grated carrot
1 tablespoon of honey soy sauce
Method:
- Soak noodles in hot water (ensure you have an adult with you) separate using a fork, and then drain.
- Place ½ a tablespoon of oil in a medium heat electric frypan. Add beaten egg and stir until cooked, remove and place on a plate.
- Slice capsicum and zucchini. Add ½ tablespoon of oil into a heated electric frypan and cook capsicum and zucchini for 5 minutes.
- Add carrot and honey soy sauce. Mix thoroughly. Slowly add the Hokkien noodles a little at a time so they don't stick together.
- Cook for 5 minutes until noodles are hot.
- Mix in egg and serve.
