From the Principal

Dear Families and Friends

The Autumn rain arrived this week and sadly the SSV Yinnar and District Athletics day was postponed. Although the rain is always welcomed, we extend our prayers to the communities in New South Wales who are battling destructive floods. Our attention now turns to the back up date for the Athletics Day which is on Wednesday 31st March. Students were given a new permission form and we ask that students return the form by Monday 29th March.

It is hard to believe we are almost at the end of our first term of the year. It is wonderful to walk around the classrooms and see students settled into classroom routines and some wonderful learning taking place across the school. Here are a few samples of the hard work the students have been completing.

We are fast approaching Holy Week and our Year 5/6 students have been preparing a Passion Play presentation for our school community on Thursday 1st April at 9am. We warmly welcome parents and friends to join us.

As we end the term next week at the special day and time of Thursday 1st April at 12:30pm, we gently remind you that all raffle tickets for the highly anticipated Easter raffle are due back on Monday 29th March. There are a handful of tickets available in the office foyer so if you would like any more tickets, please head in on Monday morning and purchase the last few. The students and staff extend our thanks to the wonderful Mums who have organised this fundraising event, and a big thank you to all of our families for the outstanding donation of Easter eggs this year. The prizes look amazing (don’t worry, they are safely tucked away in a secret location!). The raffle will take place in the courtyard, in front of the Library at 12pm sharp on Thursday. With the end of the term on Thursday at 12:30pm, please note that no country buses will be running. Please make alternative arrangements. However, the town bus will still be running.

Finally, early next term the staff of Lumen Christi will embark on professional learning in Religious Education with Dr Marg Carswell. Dr Marg is an inspirational religious educator and will provide the staff with rich, professional learning that will be used in the delivery of our Religious Education Curriculum. Therefore the school will be closed on Thursday 29th April. Please mark that date in your calendars as a pupil free day.

Have a happy and relaxing weekend!

Kind regards,

Mr Camillo Redi
