From Mrs Darby

Dear Families,

Firstly, a big congratulations to both our Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer teams for their participation in the Yinnar and District Soccer day. Our girls competed well, but were unlucky on the day. Our boys walked away champions on the day and will be going through to the next round. A huge thank you to Michael Byrne for coaching the boys and to Mr Mulry for organisation on the day and for coaching the girls.

Last week, our school captains, Mrs Szkwarek and myself attended a Catholic Education Week Mass at St Francis Xavier College Beaconsfield. Bishop Greg said the mass, fresh from his trip to Rome attending Pope Leo’s inauguration – so a big effort from the Bishop and a testament to how important celebrating the mass as a whole community is to him as the leader of all parishes and schools in our Diocese.

A huge thank you and shout out to our Parents and Friends for running a successful lunch order day last Thursday and thank you to our school community for supporting this by ordering a lunch for their children. The Parents and Friends have been doing an amazing job with fundraising, so I am looking forward to planning with them ways in which we can utilise these funds to benefit our children.

Tomorrow night, our Year 6 students will be enjoying the “Gifts and Services” Night with their families. It is for ALL year 6 children and their families to take part in, we would love this to be a whole year level celebration, so we hope our families can come along to be a part of this special night to share our learnings with our families and pray for those celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation next week.

This week, we acknowledge National Reconciliation week. Our students will be taking part in sessions to learn about this and why it is an important week to reflect on our hurtful past and move forward in the hope of true unity with our Indigenous community.

A Prayer for National Reconciliation Week

Loving God,
We thank You for the beautiful land of Australia,
and for the Indigenous people who have cared for it for thousands of years.

Help us to listen and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,
and to walk together in friendship and peace.

Forgive us for times when people have not been treated fairly or kindly.
Fill our hearts with love, so we can help make things right.

Jesus, You teach us to love our neighbours—
help us to be kind, respectful, and welcoming to everyone.

Holy Spirit, guide us as we grow together as one family.
May we always choose the path of truth, healing, and reconciliation.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Sally
