Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term 2 at Lumen Christi! I hope all of the children had a good break from school and that families enjoyed the long weekend over Easter. Thank you for accommodating one extra day of school holidays so that teachers could return and complete some important professional learning that we know will benefit our students and be impactful for their learning.

Please remember to check the school calendar for all of the upcoming events in the school this term.

Sadly, on Monday evening, we learnt of the passing of our Holy Father, Poper Francis. I believe that we have been so lucky to have been a Catholic Community during Pope Francis’ papacy. He was a very progressive Pope and lead by such wonderful example on contemporary issues that are relevant for children and families today.

Prayer for Our School Community – In Memory of Pope Francis

Loving God,
Today our school community have hearts that are both thankful and sad.
We thank You for the life of Pope Francis,
a kind and humble shepherd who led us with love, wisdom, and hope.

He taught us to care for one another,
to protect the Earth, and to always show mercy and kindness.
We are grateful for his gentle words and big heart,
which helped the whole world feel closer to You.

Now that he has returned to Your loving arms,
we pray for peace and comfort for all who loved him.
Help us to carry on his message by being kind,
by helping those in need,
and by always trying to follow Jesus in all we do.

May Pope Francis rest in peace,
and may we keep his spirit of joy and love alive in our school and in our hearts.
