From Mrs Darby

Dear Families,

Here we are in our second full week of school, all children have settled so well into their new classes and with their new teachers. It is wonderful to see the children already engaging in positive learning and working hard in their grades. Well done.

We have a busy week this week. Tomorrow is “Safer Internet Day”  which is a global day of action bringing communities, schools, organisations and families from more than 180 countries together to raise awareness of online safety issues and work towards a safer internet.

The eSafety Commissioner leads the day in Australia to help make the internet a safer, and more positive place. More information can be found here:

Families might have noticed that we have a Resilience Project sign on the gate of the school, we are looking forward to getting started with this program and working with our children to develop their Resilience through Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy lessons. Staff will be completing our first training sessiojn on Wednesday after school so that we can begin our lessons on Tuesday afternoons.

On Thursday morning, we will celebrate our beginning of school mass. Our school Captains will be presented with their badges on this day, which is a special moment for them. All families are invited to come along and celebrate with us at 9:30am in the church.

On Friday morning, we have Andrew Chinn coming to perform a concert for us. We are very excited about this and thank Mrs Szkwarek for organising. Remember all families are invited to join in at 9:30am in the eco-centre with little brothers and sisters also. Please come along, it will be lots of fun.

Next TUESDAY 18th February, it is school photo day. Please ensure full school uniform is worn on this day including shoes.

Friday is also St Valentine’s Day. I would like to leave our families with a Valentine’s Day prayer inspired by the Gospel according to John:

Our Father, Thank You that Your love is so unconditional, patient, and forgiving that we can come to You without fear. When my children are afraid, help them to settle into this great love and give You their fears instead of carrying them and striving alone. Perfect our hearts each day as we grow to be more loving and more like You by dwelling on Your example and resting in Your love too. Thank you for loving my child even before they were born. Be near them and remind them of Your love while we are apart today in a meaningful way to them because You know them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Sally
