From Mrs Darby
Dear Families,
Last week was a short week, but a busy one behind the scenes at school. We had a big compliance audit at school that allows us to remain a registered school in Victoria, which we passed with flying colours. So I’d like to thank our staff for making sure that they are following policy and procedures at all times and our office staff Janelle and Zahli and Elly Smith and Kristie Smith, for all their help putting the evidence for our audit together.
This week, our Year 3 children are celebrating their “Games Night” at school on Wednesday evening from 5:30 – 6:30pm. This is for all Year 3 students, it would be nice if all families could make an effort to be there on the night.
Our students making the sacrament of Reconciliation attended their first commitment mass at the weekend and will attend over the next couple of weeks before their First Reconciliation on Wednesday 27 th November at Sacred Heart.
Yesterday, we held a beautiful Remembrance Day Service prepared by Mrs Szkwarek and facilitated by Miss Smith and our Year 6 students. Our children participated in this with the greatest respect and I was incredibly proud of the way all children were able to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the service women and men who have served our country. We have a number of families at our school who have served in the Australian Defence Force and so I would like to say thank you to themon behalf of our school community.
An excerpt from “For the Fallen” by Laurence Binyon
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Please remember that we have swimming in Week 8 (beginning 25 th November). A notice went home a few weeks ago for families to fill in the swimming ability of their child so that they can be grouped accordingly. Please return this to school as soon as possible.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally
