From Mrs Darby
Dear Families,
I’d firstly like to thank all the families who have made the effort to ensure their child is in the correct school uniform. This is great to see and I very much appreciate seeing this improvement in the school yard and in classrooms.
I would also like to thank the students and their families who attended the ANZAC Day service in Churchill on Thursday. Miss Watson also attended and has said what a wonderful job our children did in their speeches and in representing our school. We are very proud of the responsible and respectful way in which our students participated in this event.
Last week, our Grade 5 and 6 students attended Camp Rumbug. This was a fantastic three days in beautiful South Gippsland and again, our children were so well behaved. The staff at Camp Rumbug were full of praise for our children and the respectful way they participated in all of the camp activities and encouraged each other to give things a go. They were fantastic. Special thanks to Miss Smith, Mr Mulry, Miss Watson and Miss Charli for attending the camp and taking such good care of our children along with myself.
This week, we will be celebrating our Mother’s Day breakfast at 8am in the eco-centre followed by our Mather’s Day mass at 9:30 in the church. All mums, nans, aunties are welcome to attend. These are generally really great mornings at the school so we’d love to see as many people there as possible. It is a week early due to school photos next Thursday – the P&F will be running their Mother’s Day Stall next week.
Remember school photos are next Thursday. We are using a new company for our photos this year, so if parents/guardians are unsure of how to order photos, please chat to Janelle or Zahli in the school office who will be happy to help.
On Monday 13th May, we have “Backflips Against Bullying” visiting our school. This is a high energy show that we have booked for the children to learn about bullying, the effects it can have and how to stop it if it is happening to them or someone else. It should be a really great morning for our students to participate in.
One of the areas that we are working on in our school is ensuring that we look to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our learning. I have provided a link to the Aboriginal Lord’s Prayer and invite families to share in this prayer together if they would like to.
