From Mrs Darby

Dear Families,
It was a short week last week, but we managed to pack quite a lot into the three days that we were here at school.

We had a beautiful Mass for Remembrance Day on Thursday morning. Thank you to all who came
along to take part in this with us. I am very mindful that we have a number of people in our school community who have served in the Defence Forces and so it is hugely important to me as the Principal of this school to ensure that we acknowledge these days with the respect that they deserve.

On Thursday night, Mr Clarke ran a Dad’s Night making boomerangs which the children shared in
Assembly on Friday. I would like to thank Mr Clarke for all of the nights that he has run this year. Mr Clarke has done a wonderful job at making these nights engaging for our kids and their special adults that they have brought along to share in the fun.

On Friday, we had our first Colour Run, which was a HUGE success. Kate Riess was the mastermind behind this fundraiser, so I’d like to thank her for all of the work and organisation that went on behind the scenes to make the Colour Run happen. However, it took many many hands to run this day. Our P&F team did the most amazing job setting up the obstacle course and volunteering to help on the day. We had people squirting water guns and colour on to the kids, we had people cooking
sausages and taking photos of the day. So thank you to everyone who helped on the day, these things can’t happen without people to help run them.

We raised a really good amount of money to go towards our gaga pit, which is just fantastic. But best of all, it was just a joyful experience for all involved. I am so thankful to our P&F who keep the kids at the heart of everything that they do and I know that seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces made all of the effort and hard work worth it. The teachers and staff loved it too, I hope that this will be
something we can run each year. It’s always good to add some fresh ideas and new traditions to the school calendar.

REMEMBER that swimming starts next week for all classes. Please make sure that your child’s clothing is labelled with their name so that we can arrange lost items to be returned to their owners. It’s always handy to pack a plastic bag for wet towels and bathers. Kids are generally extra hungry after swimming, so an extra piece of fruit or snack might be handy too.

Lunch orders finish up this week – they have been a big success. Thanks to everyone who has ordered a lunch order, we hope the children have enjoyed them and the parents have enjoyed a day off from making lunch!

Lastly, congratulations to Billy Breheny who made his First Holy Communion on Sunday. We hope it was a wonderful day celebrating this special occasion and next step in your faith journey.

Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally
