5/6 Camp

On the sixteenth of October we caught a train from Morwell to Melbourne for Lumen Christi’s grade 5/6 School Camp. It was a long and boring trip up but at least it was faster than driving in a car! Once we arrived and dropped off our bags we walked over to our first activity which was ACMI, the moving picture museum, where we got to listen to music, play games and learn fun facts. I loved it and I thought it was amazing. After ACMI we walked over to some street art which looked really cool. It gave the old grey bricks a pop of colour. Some of the alleyways we went to were called ACDC lane and Hosier lane. Once we had finished seeing all of the art we went to Grilled for dinner which was not enjoyable because it made my friends and I feel sick! Then we went bowling which was really fun playing against my friends. Once that was over we went back to the hotel for bed.

On day 2 we first went to a Music Making class and made some music with digital instruments on the computer. We had partners to help make the songs. I found that it was a very interesting experience, because it was so unique and I have never done anything like it. Then we went to a heritage walk located in Birrarung Marr, which is the Indigenous name for the Yarra river. We learned about the Indigenous people, how they lived, and how they hunted for food. Afterwards we went to the Melbourne Cricket Ground and learned how football started and when it originated. Then we went to the Australian Sports Museum, where we learned about how all the sports started up. That night we had dinner on the Blue Train, where we ate some delicious pizza. Then we went to the Eureka sky deck, which is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. It was Mr Watson's favourite activity.

Wednesday was our last day in Melbourne. We didn’t do much this day because it was our last day and it was going to be a long, boring trip home. After a quick pack-up we went to Lume. Lume is an interactive aboriginal art centre where there were lots of projectors projecting huge aboriginal art onto white blank walls while music was played. It was so amazing, I loved all of the pretty designs on the walls and floors! We spent about 1 hour there then went to lunch. After all the fun in Melbourne it was time to catch our train home.
