From Mrs Darby

Dear Families,

Welcome back to school for our final term in 2023. I am sure I am not the only one wondering where the year has disappeared to!

Firstly, I would like to apologise about not communicating properly the beginning of term date in the newsletter. I understand that there was a little bit of confusion around whether we were starting Monday or Tuesday. There are a couple of school closures this term that families need to be aware of. This was communicated in a letter earlier in the year, but for your reference, the dates are below:

Friday November 3rd: Pupil Free Day for Teacher Professional Practice – Report Writing Day

Monday November 6th: School Closure Day (EBA accommodation)

Friday December 15th: Last Day Term 4 for Students 3pm finish

We have a busy term coming up with School Camps, Swimming, Bethlehem Bazaar, First Holy Communion, Halloween Disco, Colour Run, Grade 6 Graduation, Whole School fun day and transition periods for our new preps and our year 6 students. So lots coming up – we will do our best to communicate everything via all the usual channels.

Our beginning of Term Mass is next week on Thursday in the church at 9:30am. All families are welcome. We have had wonderful attendance at our masses this year, I know Father James loves to see everyone there. The theme of our mass will be for Mission Month which is in October every year. "Hearts on Fire, Feet on the Move" is the theme for Mission Month. We are invited and called to journey together and discover how, in Mission, we can make a difference in the world.

From time to time, our school suffers at the hands of vandalism from people in the Churchill community. Over the holidays, I was made aware of some damage done to our footy posts and our soccer goals. I want to say a huge thank you to the parents in our school who helped restore everything and ensure that the school equipment was safe and ready for our kids to return to. Your commitment and care for our school is greatly appreciated. Thank you for using your own time to make things right.

Finally, congratulations to all the Collingwood supporters in the school community. We have a few happy teachers on staff too. A fantastic win after a very close game.

I hope all of the children are well rested and ready for another term ahead.

Please remember to make sure children are in the correct uniform on the correct days. Sports uniform on sports days only please. And please remember that Term 4 means that hats need to be worn on the playground again. I am happy to let this week be a transition period, but the no hat, no play rule will have to apply from week 2 onwards.

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Sally
