From Mrs Darby

Dear Families,

Here we are at the end of another term. It is always nice to sit back and look at all of the positive things that have happened at the end of each term. We have certainly been busy here at Lumen Christi.

We have a fun week ahead this week with Footy Colours Day on Thursday and our Parents and Friends running Hot Dog day. Thank you to our P&F for organising this. Mr Watson is busy organising a fun day of footy themed activities and rotations for Thursday. It looks like it’s going to be great weather too.

A reminder that school finishes at 3pm as usual on Thursday and Friday is a school closure day. There will be no teachers or staff on site on Friday.

We are sadly saying goodbye to one of our support staff at the end of term. Jess Hutchinson will be leaving us. Jess has been a wonderful staff member over the past year or so and we are very sad to
see her go. We thank her very much for her work with our children here and wish her all the very best in her new endeavours.

Miss Zahli Charlton will be taking on Jess’ role both in the classroom and in the office for the remainder of the year. Zahli is an existing member of staff, who the children are familiar with and who we are excited about developing her career here at Lumen Christi.

This Thursday, it is RU OK day. A reminder to our community how important this question could be for someone who might be struggling with their mental health. This is a day to be aware, to offer support if needed and to help people know what to do in the event that someone is not okay.

Last week at our staff meeting, we prayed this prayer by Father Frank Brennan. With the referendum for “The Voice” to parliament very prominent in the news at the moment, as a community we pray:

Dear Lord,

We pray for a bright and shared future for all who call Australia home.

We ask that Your grace of acceptance and compassion will guide us.

Let the Creator Spirit lead our journey with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples of this land.

May we share your spirit more deeply; celebrating the gifts you have given us.

Help us appreciate true harmony and peace.

Walk with us as we endeavour to write a new chapter together and may we be one in

Your love.

Amen

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Sally
