From the Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
Last week we received some of the exciting details about our return to school. We have been given the dates of return and now we continue to work closely with the State Government and DOSCEL to put into place the systems and procedures required to ensure the long term safety of the students, staff as well as the continuation of school. I trust that as a community we can work together to ensure we meet and exceed these guidelines, so that we ensure we can continue to operate without an local outbreak forcing another closure on us. As more precise details come to hand they will be emailed to families and we ask parents to play particular attention to each of the details. Due to the restrictions around gatherings etc we are yet to confirm our plans for Playgroup and Cambo's Kitchen. We hope to get these two weekly favourites up and running as quickly as possible so again please keep an eye on our school communications.
Term 2 each year is the opportunity for the school welcome prospective families to visit Lumen Christi as they begin their child's transition from preschool to primary school. Already we have taken expressions of interest from potential new families to our school, and it has been pleasing to hear from these new parents the positive feedback they have received from existing families. Please continue to share the good news and if you know of any families planning on joining us in 2021 we ask you to invite them to make contact so we can include their child in the important transition activities that will start next term.
Last week our School Leadership Team had our annual meeting with the Learning & Teaching executive from DOSCEL. As a school we receive very positive feedback about our performance on many key indicators, as well as our plans for addressing improved student outcomes. Interestingly we are investigating ways to boost student independence and self-monitoring, so we are keen to see how remote learning has supported this when things go back to normal.
So enjoy this last stage of remote learning and we look forward to having everyone back very soon.
Take care,
Dave
