Dear Families,
It’s been a lovely day at school today with our Foundation and Year 1 students celebrating 100 Days of School! Well done Mrs Fahey and Miss Cindy for organising a day of fun for our children. We work so hard on our learning at Lumen Christi, but it nice to leave space for making lasting memories too.
Next week, we have Parent Teacher Interviews on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
Please ensure that you have made an appointment to see your child’s class teacher. Parent Teacher Interviews are an important part of the reporting process at Lumen Christi and ensuring that parents and school are working in partnership with each other.
Next week also is Book Week Dress Up Day on Tuesday and we are attending the Combined Schools Mass in Morwell on Thursday. Please ensure you have given permission for your child to attend on PAM.
On Wednesday 27th August, we have our first Foundation Transition Session which is very exciting. For families who are yet to enrol a younger sibling, it is important to do this soon so that they can come along to our Transition Sessions and get to know their teacher, become familiar with the school and form relationships with the other children.
This week on Friday, it is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary in the Catholic Church. This is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics, commemorating Mary's bodily assumption into heaven at the end of her earthly life. Mary is a key figure in the church who I think everyone can relate to, particularly for parents as for as special as she was, she was also just an ordinary woman who became a mother and raised a child just like all parents and carers are trying to do. I am sure being a parent in the time of Jesus was very different, but I am also sure there are things that probably haven’t changed too much either.
Thank you to those parents who are ensuring that children are in the correct uniform. I’m noticing a big difference on the yard.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally

Mary MacKillop - a lovely reflection
Last Thursday our whole school went to the church to celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Our students participated and read beautifully and it was lovely to see some parents and grandparents join us.
Saint Mary MacKillop is a really special Saint for us in Australia and also around our Diocese with many Sisters of Saint Joseph teaching and working in schools around our area and even here at Lumen Christi many years ago!
It was really nice to have the opportunity to reflect on what an amazing role model Saint Mary MacKillop is and lessons we can take from her into our own lives.
