Dear Families,
Welcome to week three! My goodness, time is flying by in this very busy term.
Firstly, I’d like to thank our Parents and Friends for organising and running a Bunnings BBQ at the weekend. I believe they raised over $600 for the school, which is a fantastic effort! Thank you to Shane Wilson for being the leader on this venture and to everyone who helped out on the day. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated P&F who are so generous with their time.
Our P&F are also running lunch orders this week on Thursday, there are some new items available on the menu, so please be sure to check these out and put orders in via CDF Pay or the office.
Today Mrs Adams and Miss Smith are attending a Resilience Project conference in Melbourne. We began running this program at our school this year and so far our teachers and students are enjoying it and the engaging approach to learning about wellbeing that it offers us. One of the things that has come out of the project is some data about our children that has given us a few focus areas to work on but also highlighted some strengths. One of the key messages from our student wellbeing data is that the majority of children surveyed report a happy home life and feel safe and supported within their families. This is one of the biggest and most important protective factors for wellbeing so we have some very lucky kids here at Lumen Christi!
We have District Basketball coming up on Friday this week, 100 Days of school next week for our children in Mrs Fahey’s class and Book Week Dress Up Day on the 19th August also. So lots happening around the school as always.
This week, we celebrate the feast day of Australia’s Patron Saint – Saint Mary of the cross MacKillop. Mary MacKillop was a co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph. Her most important contribution was the establishment of schools and refuges for the disadvantaged in Australia and promoting education for the poor.
We will be holding a prayer service on Thursday morning celebrating St Mary of the cross MacKillop on Thursday morning at 8:45am.
A short reminder about school uniforms. We still have a number of students wearing the wrong uniforms on the wrong days. Please remember that Mondays and Fridays are sports days and all other days, students should be in correct uniform including plain, black shoes/runners.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally

Welcome to Term 3!
I hope that everyone had a lovely break over the holidays and enjoyed some down time either together as a family or pockets just for yourself.
As we head into another term filled with learning, it can be easy to stay focussed on what is coming next. I would like to invite you to see if you can take some moments to pause and reflect. Try these prompts to help flex your gratitude muscle. These are great things to talk about over the dinner table.
